Intimacy with God

He doesn’t determine how close you are to him; it’s you who determines how close you are to him.

Different ways people walk with God

1. Some try to hide from God.
2. Those who try to run away from God try to evade God.
3. Those who turn their backs on God
4. People who decide to follow God from a distance.
5. Those who follow Jesus have religious fallacies. They only follow Jesus with their lips, but their lifestyle speaks differently.
6. Those who know God through others have no personal relationship.
7. Those who are out of spiritual hunger are always available to be taught, so they position themselves at the feet of Jesus.
8. Christians who are desperate for God seek after him.
9. There are those who, like Moses, cry out to God for his glory.
10. Then there are those who are comfortable putting their chests at the heart of Jesus. This is when you become in tune with God.
11. The last is when you get to a place where God now calls you his friend, his son.

• Intimacy with God is not a gift; it’s a choice we make.
• psalm 84:10, psalm 27:4, Exo 33:11, psalm 27:8

What does it mean to draw near to God?

1. It means to manifest an ever-growing encounter with God and his power.
2. It means to develop desperation for your pursuit of God.
3. It means to display the humility and hunger of Zacheus.
4. It means to break your alabaster box of expensive ointment. It means seeking God will cost you something precious.
5. It means to cast aside anything that will hinder you from going to Jesus. Mark 10

His WILL not my WILL

Ezra 7:18, Psalm 40:8, Matt 7:21–23, Luk 22:42,

Text: Luke 22:42

* What is the will of God? God’s will is basically God’s plan and purpose for man.

* Now what is the plan and purpose of God for man?
There are many verses in the Scriptures that outline God’s plan and purpose for man.
Looking at Gen 1:27–31

There are many of us right now who are not in the perfect will of God; we are seen as people who are laboring as fools. Ecc 10:15

Now, with respect to God’s will and not ours, we need to understand that we must first come to the knowledge of God. It is during the process of knowing God that his will becomes revealed.

The will of God, through our relation with Him, is that there is a change in man to become the likeness of God in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness.

There is what we call mistaken identity syndrome. This is when we abuse the purpose at which we were created.

There is a popular quote: when the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable.

There are so many of us who are living an abused life. Now this abuse is not afflicted by the devil, but self-afflicted.

So what it means to walk in the will of God is to give ourselves to God.

It is also in God’s will that he has placed certain things in our hands to help us walk in the calling that is placed in us.

* We need to search the deep mysteries of God if we are to understand his will.

* Matt 7:21–23: One of the ways God knows his people is by those who do the will of God.

The first Step to Knowing and walking in the WILL of God

1. Renewal of the Mind (Rom 12:2 NIV)
2. A deep search into the mysteries of God Col 1:26-27
3. A close relationship with God through prayer

Prayer: Lord, help me not to labor as a fool, running another man’s journey.
Father, help my mortal man to submit to your will, oh God.
Lord, help me to stay in your will no matter the distractions of the world.

Altar call:
– If you are here and you know God placed an assignment in your hands, but as a result of the happenings around, you have not been able to walk in that calling.

– Those that need strength from God for the staying power. To stay in the place of prayer.

Men of Issachar

Text: 1 Chronicles 12:32, Proverbs 2:6, Ephesians 5:15–17, Matthew 16:1-4, Ecclesiastes 3:1–8,

1. Understanding the Times:
The men of Issachar stood out among their brethren because they possessed a deep understanding of the times in which they lived. They were not passive observers but actively sought discernment from the Lord. In our fast-paced, ever-changing world, it is crucial for us to cultivate a similar spirit of discernment. We must be aware of the cultural, social, and spiritual climate around us and how it impacts our lives and the lives of those around us.

2. Seeking Wisdom from God:
The wisdom of the men of Issachar did not come from human intellect alone. They sought divine insight and understanding. Proverbs 2:6 reminds us that “the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” Just as the men of Issachar sought wisdom from God, we too must seek His guidance through prayer, studying His Word, and cultivating a close relationship with Him. It is in this intimacy with God that we gain the discernment needed to navigate the complexities of our times.

3. Responding to the Call:
The men of Issachar did not merely possess knowledge; they knew what Israel should do. They recognized their responsibility to act upon the understanding they had received. As believers, we are called to be doers of the Word (James 1:22). Discerning the times is not an end in itself; it should propel us to respond faithfully and obediently to God’s calling. We are to be salt and light in the world, actively engaging with compassion and love, and bringing the message of hope found in Christ to those around us.

4. Gate keepers:
1 Chronicles 9:22, Isaiah 62:6,

THE BENEFITS OF SPIRITUAL INTIMACY

John 5:19

1. The most profound blessing of intimacy is the knowledge of God. When you have knowledge of God, faith will not be a struggle. Faith makes it your turn as well as your time for a divine intervention. It will always be unto you according to your faith, not according to His power. Not according to the size of your need. Not according to how much tears you have shed. Without faith, it is not your turn. You remain on the waiting list.
2. Spiritual serenity. Phil 4:6-7. What God gives you after prayer is not just the request you asked for, but His peace. God may be silent, but not inactive. You have calmness in crisis. You know you are not abandon of forgotten.
3. Fearlessness, Holy boldness. Psalm 23:4. Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff they comfort me. Hebrew 13:5b. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you. 6. So we may boldly say: The Lord is my Helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” It’s the secret behind men who takes risks for the kingdom. Confidence is when you are full of the word. Cocky is when you are full of yourself. Boldness is when you are full of the Holy Spirit. Bold face is when you are full of deceit.
4. You get superhuman results. Mark 16:20. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. Mark 3:14. Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach.😄He WALKED with them before He WORKED with them. We will have abiding fruits. They were first His regular companions before they became preachers.
5. The sheep is only safe when it stays close to the shepherd. We are as sheep in the midst of wolves. The sheep that strays far from the shepherd will become dinner for Wolves. For protection, preservation and provision, the sheep must stay close to the shepherd.

6. We will know His voice and His leading. John 10:27. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 😄In a very noisy world, one of your greatest assets is the ability to discern God’s voice. You are one instruction away from your breakthrough.
7. Sensitivity to opportunities and open doors. We may look and not see correctly unless He touches our eyes.
8. That is where oracles are made. That is where we learn the fear of God. 2 Chron 18:13. And Micaiah said, “As the Lord lives, whatever my God says, that I will speak.”

INTIMACY WITH GOD

Psalm 27:8. When you said, seek my face, my heart said unto you, your face Lord I will seek.
Psalm 42:1. As the deer pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul for you O God. 2. My soul thirst for God, for the Living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
This is like the person who set your exams and will mark your scripts teaching you how to answer the question. Would you listen to him or not.
James 4:8. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you…
1. Intimacy is not a gift. It’s not a prerogative of some people. It’s a choice anyone can make.
2. Everyman is as close to God as he is willing to pay the price.
3. Your call to intimacy is much greater than your call to ministry. Walking with God should supersede working for God. 😄You can work for God and end up in hell. But you can’t walk with God and be lost.

HOW DO WE DEVELOP INTIMACY
1. Make it a priority. Make it your goal in life. John 5:19. Then Jesus answered and said to them, Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do, for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner. John 15:5b…For without me you can do nothing.
2. Get a revelation of God as Love. No one wants to pursue a painful experience. 😄In Genesis 3, before Adam had any challenge he could pray about, God walked in the garden in the cool of the day. Eph 3:17. That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith: that you, being rooted and grounded in love. 19. To know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

3. As much as possible, create a place, and time for an appointment with God. Anything you do repeatedly for 21 days becomes a habit. Great people are people of great habits.
4. Create around you an atmosphere of the Word.
5. Accept and welcome the ministry of the Holy Spirit. He is called the Friend. John 16:7. He came to establish close fellowship with us.
6. Develop a culture of prayer. Every 2-3 hours take time to worship God. Pray for people on the street that you may never see again.
7. Pray in tongues. 1 Cor 14:2. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
God speaks back. He can speak back in tongues so that you can interpret. He can speak back by highlighting a scripture. The language God does not speak is the language of unbelief or complaints or murmuring.

THE MANIFESTION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

1 Corinthians 12:1-11, Acts 1:8, 2 Timothy 1:6-7, John 4:23, 1 Cor 1:5-6, 1 Cor 14:13, 1 Cor 14:12,

* The manifestation of the HolySpirit is the power of God made visible

* The manifestation of the HolySpirit can be translated as being completely immersed in the power and presence of the all mighty God.

* For we to enjoy the manifestation of the HolySpirit in us, we need to build our inner man to become sensitive.

* What are the manifestation and power of God we are talking. This is the power to hear from God, speak in tongues, prophesy, do signs, miracles and much more.

* The reason my most of us don't experience the manifestation of the HolySpirit is not because we don't have the HolySpirit, no. It's because the HolySpirit is lying dormant in our spirit man.

* Knowledge not retrievable is not usable.

* We need to get to a point where the place of the spirit becomes our natural habitat.

* If you have rich utterance with rich knowledge, you get rich manifestation.

* Manifestation of the spirit is not the proof of spiritual maturity. The fact that you can speak in tongues doesn't mean you are matured spiritually. You can experience the manifestion of God and remain in one spot spirituality if you don't make the conscious effort to build your spirit man.

* The longer the time you spend in communication (tongues) to God the more you experience the manifestation of God.

* Your relationship is just as strong as your fellowship.

* If you seek Gods face you will get an embrace.

* Knowing the voice of God is not a formula that you learn, it's a sensitivity you develop as a reason of fellowship. The voice of your father can never be taught, it is caught by fellowship.

* When you give God what he cannot give himself, then he gives you what you cannot give yourself.

* Anytime you create an atmosphere of worship you exalt the lord and you move him to release his power.

* Prayer connects us with Our Sonship rights and privileges.

* So the more you give yourself to prayer, the more prayer takes over you.

The Ministry of the Holy Spirit.

The function of Holy Spirit is to calibrate man to a level where he begins to operate at spiritual standards. The Holy Spirit quickens. The moment we begin to altercate with the Holy Spirit we begin to reduce his function in our lives.
The ministry of the Holy Spirit helps in the alignment of the hearts of men to focus on the heart of God and the moment we begin to focus on the face Of God, he embraces us to him, thereby releasing his blessings.
How do we embrace our loved ones, we open our arms for them to come in. That's how it is with our father. The day we seek his face, he draws us the his heart and as he opens his arm to embrace us what comes out of him are his promises.
The ministry of the Holy Spirit gives confirmation to men with various signs and workings, he opens up the heart and mind of man and reveals that which the understanding or mere men can't comprehend.

Until we are open ourselves to the flow of the Holy Spirit we cannot enjoy his manifestation. We cry in daily for the we songs and various means asking for the flow and power of the move of God, but we fail to align ourselves with the one that brings about the move of his presence.

Align yourself to the working of the Holy Spirit today.

THE UNSTOPPABLES

You are referring to those going somewhere. Those making progress in the midst of stiff opposition. To step into your promised inheritance, you must step hard on the devil's toes. It will take some determination. There are traits you will notice in the lives of the UNSTOPPABLES.
A. They master the present in order to step into their destinies.
Luke 2:10-14. THEY ARE PURPOSE DRIVEN AND PROPELLED A VISION.
ACTS 20:24
They are vision driven. The future is so inviting, they are in a hurry to get there. They see and celebrate the invisible.
A man without a burning vision will either gravitate to his past or squander today's opportunities. They see light at the end of the tunnel.
Like Joseph they don't die in the pit, because they see the throne.

B. They refuse to accept the devil's stop sign.
The devil tells you it's IMPOSSIBLE when you are getting close to your breakthrough. He tells you YOU ARE UNQUALIFIED OR UNFIT.
Mark 2.

C. THEY REFUSE TO ACCEPT FAILURE AS FINAL
God is the God of another chance. Psalm 103:14. For He knows our frame, He remembers that we are dust.
There are persistent. Like Delilah, a bad woman who teaches us a good lesson. They persevere until the devil surrenders to them. Satan cannot maintain his pressure on your life forever. If you give up before winning, you gave up too soon.

D. THEY ARE CONSCIOUS OF THEIR DIVINE MANDATE
Every divine mandate comes with divine backing. It carries the authority of the one that sent you. Acts 23:11
Joshua 1:5. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life.

D. THEY ARE NOT SLAVES TO PEOPLES OPINIONS
Mark 10:46-52. Blind Bartimaeus will not be cowed into silence. You must live your life beyond the negative opinions of others.
He refused to allow men to stop him and so he ended up stopping God..
